Hear
Word a thought-provoking theatre production directed by Ifeoma Fafunwa makes a
come back to the stage in May 2015. I had the opportunity to attend its debut last
year (if you missed my review clicked here) and I was excited, in awe and had
goose pimples all at once during particular scenes and performances.
With
a stellar cast made up of Joke Silva, Taiwo Ajai-Lycett, Kate Henshaw, Bimbo
Akintola, Omonor, Elvina Ibru, Deborah Ohiri, Lala Akindoju, Zara Udofia, Rita
Edward, Ufuoma McDermott and Odenike, ‘Hear Word’ combines artistry, social
commentary and true-life stories of transformation in the lives of Nigerian
women from all corners of this diverse country crossing a variety of
socio-economic levels.
This
year feels like it would be bigger as top Nigerian designer Ituen Basi is on
the bill for costumes, advertisers such Africa Magic, CoolFM, Etisalat, Vlisco,
iOpenEye and Fayrouz are backing the play and while some acts for the debut
aren’t on the bill, I look forward to seeing how the new ones will do.
As
a prelude to the upcoming production, there was 'Naija Woman Talk' True (media chat) at the
Goethe-Institut Nigeria, yesterday.
Here
are some of the still shots from the event:
If you think you want to pass on play, here's a video from last year's performance, thank me later!
